Founded in 2000 with only twelve singers, torino vocalensemble (tve) has grown rapidly and performed 140 concerts in six countries throughout Europe in its first ten years of activity, spanning a repertoire of more than 150 compositions, 15 world premieres (10 of which were commissioned by tve), the Italian premiere performance of Corrado Margutti’s Missa Lorca for a cappella double choir, as well as the first worldwide recording of the same work.
Over the years, the torino vocalensemble roster has included singers of 10 different nationalities, in addition to collaborating with instrumentalists, actors, dancers and painters. The art of choral improvisation and the interaction with other artistic forms give testimony to tve’s desire to go beyond the traditional conception of choral concerts through constant experimentation of new forms and possibilities. The ensemble supports this research journey with a vast repertoire that ranges from a cappella to symphonic genres.
tve has participated in numerous music series, festivals and international seminars, performing with the Pomeriggi Musicali Orchestra, De Sono Archi Ensemble, Junge Deutsche Philarmonie and Ensemble Sabaudo. The choir has also collaborated in the role of a laboratory chorus with the Italian Federation of Regional Choral Associations (Feniarco), the European Choral Association-Europa Cantat (ECA-EC), as well as organizing seminars and concerts with eminent choral figures within the scope of its "Voci & Incontri" series.
